Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I host with Spark::red?

Spark::red offers the most qualified, professionally managed ATG hosting available. Tap into our knowledge and experience (our staff members each average over 8 years of hands-on ATG experience, most of that at the architect level with some of the largest ATG installations in the world). Our management portal provides comprehensive real-time monitoring and alerting, as well as allowing you, our client, to deploy new code and content into both your staging environment and into production. You will feel safe knowing that your site is hosted at our certified Tier 4 data center, which has the highest level of redundant network, power, cooling, and security available anywhere. You can feel secure knowing that the servers and cluster infrastructure have been specially designed by security specialists to meet and beat the credit card industry’s security guidelines (PCI Compliance). And don't forget about the IDS, anti-DDOS, systems, firewalls, security scanners and audit tools Spark::red runs all the time to provide you with the most hacker-proof site possible.

What if I want to host my ASP/PHP/other application with you?

Unfortunately, Spark::red only offers ATG application hosting. This is our what we do, and to ensure we are able to continue delivering the best ATG hosting experience possible, we have to keep focused on just that.

What if I want to use Weblogic, IIS, or some other custom configuration or software?

The reason we can offer the highest level of quality, security, performance, and responsiveness, at a reasonable price, is that we limit the variables in your environment. As such, we only offer hosting on ATG 7.1 on DAS and ATG 2006.3 or 2007.1 on JBoss. We only support Apache as the web server and Oracle as the database. This ensures that we can deliver on our promise of a secure, stable, high performing environment for your application.

We may still be able to work with you on special integrations with other software packages. Contact us for specific questions.

How many servers do I need to run my application?

Given the varied nature of client applications, it is impossible to provide a one-size fits all cluster sizing guideline. We would be happy to provide pre-sales sizing consultation in addition to post-sales load testing and sizing advice as your project advances.
